COMPOSER: Juan Carlos Aleixandre, Master Composer
Born in Caracas, Venezuela from an illustrious family which includes a Nobel Prize in Literature, and a multi awardee writer, Juan Carlos Aleixandre, soon in his teens, discovers that music in a moving image achieves an unforeseen level of emotion, so his passion for film music begins.
At the age of 16 he studies music theory and piano in a self-taught way and at 18, he formally began his academic studies at the Conservatory of the Filarmónica de Caracas. He receives knowledge from famous local musicians and later he completes his studies at the José Lorenzo Llamozas School of Music graduating as a Maestro Composer in 1994.
Twenty-nine plays carry his original music, both incidental, including The Happy Prince by José Simón Escalona becoming his greatest achievement in this genre: with 12 songs composed in a month. In 2008 he received a nomination for the T.I.N. (Children's Theater) award for best music with Ali, Corazón de Selva. In 2013 the puppet play Once Upon a Time in America won the Municipal Theatre Award, which encompasses the entire production, including music composed by Aleixandre. He has composed the music for short fiction films and advertising campaigns. He has also been a theater and TV actor.
He currently lives in his hometown Caracas, Venezuela. His compositions for MIBC were created specifically for this project and inspired on the creativity of choreographer Miao Zong.
